More About the CARE Program
CARE Package Recipients
Dear Friends,
My name is Tanya, Owner of Your Parrot Place. Having been through financial hard times myself, I decided to "Adopt a
Parrot Family" for Christmas (Okay, I call it Christmas, you can call it
anything you want.) this year.
What I didn't expect was to receive so
many heart-breaking letters from friends and family members of really great
people that are temporarily having a rough time making ends meet right now
due to unforeseen circumstances like illness, accidents, loss of a job, etc.
I had no idea that there were so many really great folks out there having
to choose between their needs or their bird's needs. It's hard to imagine
making a choice between your medicine and bird food (or your food
and bird medicine) isn't it? And, I have to say, the
birds always win!
It became VERY clear to me within a couple of days that one family was just the
beginning. Now, I don't personally have the funds, neither does Your Parrot
Place, to help everyone or I would do it. So, I decided to start this
Parrot Care Package Program.
Your Parrot Place is a VERY small business with exactly one
employee, me. This is how I make my living. There is no big warehouse, no
distribution chain, or much of an advertising budget. Basically, I am the
webmaster, owner, janitor, stocker, bookkeeper, etc. Just me and some
great parrot supplies. I guess you could call YPP a tiny business with a
big heart.
Purpose of the Parrot Care Package Program
The purpose of this Parrot Care Package Program is very simple. It is for individual households
and families with parrots. It is not for the purpose of aiding rescue,
non-profit organizations, research or conservation programs.
I would truly love to help every parrot-owned household (we all know the
FIDS run the place). However, due to financial limitations, "determinations
of need" must be made with careful consideration.
How Donations are Collected
Your Parrot Place, regularly collects informal cash donations to place in
the Program Fund and keep on-hand to purchase supplies for Parrot Care Packages. All
cash gifts are completely voluntary. This is NOT a non-profit or any kind of
tax-exempt organization.
If you are able to help a bit, I encourage you to do so. If not, that's fine.
It's completely voluntary.
Parrot Care Package vs. Sponsorship
A Parrot Care Package generally supplies enough food for 3-4 months and
is a one time gift.
Parrot Family Sponsorship is for
long term assistance. Money is put aside to send Parrot Care Packages on a
quarterly basis to a
sponsored parrot household for a year at a time. Each year the sponsorship
will need to be renewed.
Usually enough parrot food to last for 3 - 4 months at a time. Long term assistance is meant for
situations like households on a fixed income such as Social Security,
Disability, etc.
100% of All Donations Go Directly to the Recipients!
Your Parrot Place covers any fees, taxes, and any other "operational costs"
related to the Parrot Care Package Program Fund. I donate my time, so no costs there. 100% of the
donated funds are used where they are most needed.
The Parrot Care Package Program is NOT a non-profit status fund. There are no obligations or
restrictions upon who may receive gifts from the Program Fund, nor restrictions upon
monetary amounts of any gift to or from the Program Fund.
Thank you,
Tanya
